A Bali Wedding: Bringing Two Cultures Together

Joseph and Alejandra are from opposite sides of the world, Joseph is from Australia and Alejandra is Columbian. Bringing two families and two cultures together is no easy task so they decided on a Bali Wedding to bring everyone together. Joseph and Alejandra’s instant attraction for one another was undeniable and so their love story began.   Joseph whisked Alejandra away for a romantic weekend at the luxe Versace Hotel on the Gold Coast. While Alejandra thought Joseph was just spoiling her with a romantic getaway, he had much bigger plans. A long stroll on the beach at sunset was the perfect opportunity – Joseph pulled out a beautiful ring he knew Alejandra would love and asked her for her hand in marriage. Of course she said yes!

Joseph and Alejandra wanted to take their families on a journey with them, not only their journey of marriage but also the journey of experiencing a new culture. Their choice to have a Bali wedding was inspired by the Balinese people - their kindness, smiles and their deep spirituality. Joseph and Alejandra described their wedding venue The Royal Pita Maha as “magical”. It’s 360 degree jungle views of Ubud with the famous Ayung river running alongside it is electric.

They wanted to immerse themselves and their guests in the culture of Bali. Their reception included the traditional Royal Procession, Fire Dances, Chants and Balinese Blessings. Alejandra and Joseph also incorporated “La Hora Loca” – A Colombian tradition inspired by the magical culture of carnival. The coming together of cultures was stunning and brought everyone together for a party, including the waiters who couldn’t help but hit the dance floor.

It was a night to remember for not only themselves but also their friends and family who were able to experience the magic of Bali, while also celebrating the love of Joseph of Alejandra.

We asked Alejandra for her number tip for future brides-to-be planning their Bali wedding; she replied “Don’t try to do it on your own! Enjoy the experience and make sure you have plenty of time to organise it. Plan, divide and conquer!”
